Patrons Bullfeathers Wings & Grille, at 1625 N. Main Street here in Fuquay-Varina, got an interesting surprise last week at their regular Thursday night Open Mike event.
Sergey Pudov and Victor Timofeev walked up on stage with Victor wielding an Accordion and Sergey pulling out a Balalaika (a small triangle shaped Russian guitar type instrument). The crowd was in for a treat. Both professional musicians are visiting in Fuquay-Varina as cultural visitors and are being hosted by David Morris, a local manufacturer, in conjunction with his role with the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council.
They are both world class performers. Sergey, age 23, is just coming off his US National Tour with the Golden Gates. Victor, age 40, has been playing and singing all over Russia and much of Europe. The main purpose of this 6 months to a year stay, is to learn more about the United States and are enjoying the positive feel of welcome of our great area.
While their principal reason of being here is to better understand our culture and country, they do enjoy entertaining and do it well. It is a pleasure to watch these two who truly enjoy their craft. They enjoyed their welcome last week and are planning to jump behind the mike again this Thursday (02/26/09) at Bullfeathers Wings & Grille in Fuquay-Varina.
Anyone who would like do discuss having them play at a private get-together, Restaurant, Nursing Home, etc. they could possibly work it in. Contact may be made by e-mailing the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council at info@fuquay-varinaartscouncil.org. Feel free to visit the website fuquay-varinaartscouncil.org to hear about other art related activities coming to our area.
